Hi and welcome to the forum.

John Ackerman is a friend of mine and lives two streets over from me.
His work on firetrucks was what got me started working with horse drawn vehicles. His knowledge of tools and procedures has been a big help to me and I've been leaning on him for guidance on tool selection as I downsize my shop to work on miniatures.

I don't think he has any plans for HDVs, but I suspect he has pictures of the old equipment. I know he has a poster of HDV fire equipment on his studio wall.

In an attempt to get this conversation back on topic; Where is Greenie when we need him? There is a horse drawn steam pumper in Junction City, just about ten miles north of here. I have been planning on photographing it for years but just don't find the time at the same time I think of doing it. Right now they are having a festival there so would have to deal with 80 thousand people milling around while I try to photograph it. When they first started the festival in 1961 they fired up the engine and pulled it through town with a team. With the whistle blowing, bell ringing and smoke and steam billowing, it made quite a picture. For many years it has sat under a canopy in the park. Much of the brass goodies are gone (hopefully removed for safe keeping). Once the dust settles here perhaps I will go up and check it out and see just what it is and if worth bothering to measure.
